Main Activities
The laboratory performs microbiological testing of various clinical specimens, including:
- Throat, nasopharyngeal, and sputum samples
- Urine (urine culture)
- Materials from the genital tract
- Stool samples
- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- Blood cultures
- Wound materials — including samples related to postoperative and burn infections
The laboratory also determines the antimicrobial susceptibility of rapidly growing microorganisms to antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents using the disk diffusion method.
Collaboration and Quality Assurance
The laboratory collaborates with higher-level reference laboratories to establish the etiological diagnosis and ensure appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
It holds all required certificates for external quality control issued by the National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD).
